“Winter is Coming” I never really liked this phrase but became afan of this phrase after watching Game of Thrones. Anyways, with the arrival ofwinter means a change in weather, wardrobe, food as well as skin and hair careroutine. Flaky, dry and sometimes itchy skin are the common problems weexperience during winters(don’t wanna get into the hair problems). However, a few easy and simple changes can help fight this winter skin.
I basically start my day with a Face Wash. I try avoiding using warm water, instead, I use lukewarm water. Then weekly I do the cleanup and scrub(if I remember to do so). Moisturizing cream is a must after the face wash as well as cleanup. If you are a busy mum, Masks are you new BFFs because you can put these exceptional masks according to your skin type, while your kid is sleeping(otherwise they will think you are a spooky ghost), before going out…or simply the way you want to manage.
Although I use Lip Balms all year long, there are so many lip balms out there that aren’t just balmy enough. They can be fine for summer, butin winters, we must have the hard-core stuff which wards off chapping. Moreover, I exfoliate my lips, with my toothbrush…Yes, you read it right. When you are brushing your teeth, just rub your lips very lightly with them andyou will get soft chap less clean lips. Also, moisturizing and nourishinghands, cuticles and nails will help to avoid the skin from drying and wrinkles. I always try to apply nail paint to keep them from becoming rough. My feet’s are super duper dry so I always try to keep them moisturized as well as keepthem in socks as much as I can.
So this was from the outside, to really take care of your skin, start from the inside. Here is what I do during winters:
- Consuming sweet potato, cucumber, etc as well as fruits helps to alleviate dry skin also from further damage. I had read somewhere that foods or supplements which contain omega-6 and omega-3 for instance, fish oils and for vegans flaxseed oils helps to alleviate dry skin.
- During winter it’s easy to leave out drinking water because you might not feel as thirsty, but this doesn’t mean that your body doesn’t need the same amount of water, though, being hydrated in winter is
veryimportantand keep your skin happy. I try to drink an extra glass of water witheverymeal.
So this is how I take care of my skin and me in winters. What about you? Let me know in the comments section. Also, don’t forget to check the sidebar and footer of this website for awesome resources!
